What is a Mesh Banner?

Mesh banners are the kind of banners you’ve seen with tiny perforations throughout the surface of print. The perforations in the material allow for wind to pass through while displaying a fully printed image. Mesh Banners are used to offset windy conditions where large banners need to be displayed.

Our standard material is 10 oz mesh material which has a 70/30 ratio. 10 ounce material means that one square yard of the material weighs 10 ounces, The 70/30 is the ratio of printable area vs open area (70% printable material / 30% blow through).

Common Uses for Mesh Banners

Fence wraps, mesh fence banners, construction fence banners and stage backdrops are examples of how mesh banners can be used creatively. These types of applications allow for large-scale branding opportunities that can cover entire fences or stages.

Primarily used outdoors, you will commonly find mesh banner printing done for events, festivals, concerts and construction sites. While the uses of this material are infinite, the more common uses include:

Fence Wraps / Mesh Fence Banners

One of the greatest advantages of fence wraps is their versatility. They can come in any size, shape, or design imaginable which allows them to cater specifically to the needs of each individual client. Whether it’s promoting your brand or adding some flair to a dull construction site, mesh fence banners offer endless possibilities.

You can typically install these banners to a chain link fence using plastic medium-duty zip-ties. Fence Wraps are often printed in panels of 10 to 20 feet each, are wind resistant and are easily custom sized.

Construction Fence Banners

Construction Fence Banners are an innovative way to add color and personality to construction sites. These large banners can be attached to temporary fencing, transforming what would otherwise be a bland eyesore into a vibrant piece of urban artwork. Construction banners aren’t just for looks though; they can also serve as a means of communication by displaying important information about the project or safety guidelines for pedestrians passing by.

Stage Backdrops

Stage backdrops offer a unique opportunity to display visually stunning graphics during concerts, theater productions, or other live events. Mesh banner material allows for proper ventilation while still maintaining image clarity from a distance.  Typically when setting up a large stage outdoors, you will see very large banners attached to the stage truss, covering the speakers and typically displaying the name and sponsors of the event.

Finishing Options for Mesh Banners

Every custom mesh banner order comes with edges done and grommets already included in the price (we don’t add more for this). Alternative finishing options are available to meet your specific installation requirements. Other mesh banner options include:

Mesh Banner Finishing Option

We normally place grommets every two to three feet around all four edges of the banner. If you want to customize this, you can. We can leave the grommets off, place them in the 4 corners only, or we can add twice as many as we normally would. Just ask!

We are able to sew pole pockets into the edges of your banner. This is a loop of material intended for a pipe or pole to go through. This is a commonly preferred method for hanging banners, and so we offer pole pockets on one side, two sides, or all four sides.

We sew the corners with a diagonal strip of additional sewing in order to make the corners of the banner much stronger. We do this for very high wind areas.

We recommend webbing for all large mesh banners. Webbing is similar to adding a tie strap into the edges of your banner. This makes the edge thicker than normal, giving the metal grommets even more material to grip onto.

D-Rings can be added into the banner in addition with the webbing. The steel D-Rings are much stronger than the grommets, allowing for extra durability in high wind areas.

Say you want to hang your banner in between two trees. This is the time you would consider having rope sewn directly into your banners edges. We can add rope to your mesh banner if you ask!

How Large Can we Print?

We can print seamless mesh banners up to 10 feet in height and 145 feet in length. The standard material we use is a 10-ounce mesh material with a 70/30 ratio. 10 ounce material means that one square yard of the material weighs 10 ounces, The 70/30 is the ratio of printable area vs open area (70% printable material / 30% blow through).

If the order calls for something wider than 10 feet, we can weld the banner materials together creating billboard-sized prints. Using outdoor grade uv inks only, our colors will last even during summer in Austin.
